Committee Introduction

The Security Council is one of the principal organs of the United Nations, with the role of maintaining international security and peace under the UN Charter. With 5 permanent members and 10 rotating members, the Security Council acts as the central body for combating acts of aggression across the globe. This year at KINGMUN, the Security Council is set to be an extremely interesting and intense committee with issues that call for creative diplomatic solutions and mature international-mindedness from the delegates. Register now for what is to be one of the most exciting committees on KINGMUN!

Committee Staff

Luke Jouflas

Director

Luke Jouflas is a junior at Bellarmine Preparatory School. This will be his twentieth MUN conference and sixth conference staffing, and he feels honored to be serving on the UNSC with his fellow dais. The UNSC is one of the most competitive committees offered at KINGMUN, so he is beyond excited to see the spectacular debate. During his spare time, Luke enjoys skiing, climbing, and just about anything related to the outdoors. When he’s not outdoors, Luke enjoys consuming dangerous amounts of coffee and dayquil, attempting to stay alive during a conference, and all the while attempting to convince a committee that China has never done anything wrong. Overall, Luke enjoys MUN because he gets to meet new people and debate interesting topics, all while being absolutely exhausted.

Jessica Topper

Chair

Jessica Topper is a sophomore at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, WA. This is her second time staffing a MUN conference, the first was in the UNSC at PACMUN 2019. After that conference, she fell in love with the MUN circuit because she loves to learn and make new friends in the community. When she’s not procrastinating getting her school work done, Jessica is traveling, shopping or hanging out with her crew and making them laugh :). Jessica’s favorite aspect of MUN is creating conference vlogs with her friends. She also loves sharing MUN memes with fellow delegates. Jessica can’t wait for KINGMUN 2020 because she loves her dais and the topics they have selected. She hopes the delegates come ready and excited for a great weekend of debate!

Charlize Yeh

Assistant Director

Charlize Yeh is a busy junior at Interlake High School in Bellevue, Washington. Having been a part of Model United Nations for the past two years, she has thoroughly enjoyed the memories, friends, and unforgettable experiences she has made through Model UN. When she's not busy cramming in last minute papers, she loves to compete in tennis tournaments, participate in DECA, and attempt to bake (but fail terribly, usually burning most of the batch). She loves to travel and often finds herself in interesting endeavors, such flying through the tallest zipline in North America. She is super excited for this year's KINGMUN 2020 and hopes to see you all there!
